Detailed Product Overview

The HIOKI CT6843A AC/DC High-accuracy Current Clamp covers rated currents up to 200 A on conductors up to 20 mm. Its zero-flux fluxgate technology holds a basic accuracy of ±0.2 % rdg across both AC and DC, because the fluxgate element shows only minimal drift even if the temperature changes during the measurement. Its bandwidth from DC to 700 kHz also captures the switching content of modern inverters and converters. 
The combination of high bandwidth and a 200 A range makes it a tool for development and test-bench work on drives and inverters in the lower power classes, as well as for 48 V systems in vehicles and industrial equipment. Its wide operating temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C covers both the climate-controlled test bench and direct use on the vehicle or machine. 


One connector, several measurement systems 

Connected to HIOKI power analyzers such as the PW8001 or PW4001, the CT6843A's ME15W connector carries the measurement signal and receives the sensor's power supply from the instrument directly, so no separate power source is needed; the same is true for the MR6000 Memory Recorder via the U8977 current unit. For oscilloscopes or other data acquisition (DAQ) systems, a HIOKI current sensor interface (CT9555, CT9556, CT9557) sits between sensor and instrument, converting the ME15W signal to a BNC output and supplying the sensor's power, at a voltage output ratio of 10 mV/A. The CT6843A's 20 mm core diameter also takes in conductors too unwieldy for a tighter clamp, while staying compact enough for test benches with limited clearance. If the standard 3-meter cable falls short, a CT9902 extension cable adds another 5 m. 

Because the CT6843A's phase error behaves as an essentially constant time delay across its frequency range rather than varying with frequency, HIOKI power analyzers such as the PW8001 and PW4001 can correct it with a single value, similar to how an oscilloscope's deskew function aligns channels. Applied automatically, this phase shift correction keeps current and voltage in step across the band, so power measurements stay accurate even at high frequencies and low power factors. 


700 kHz bandwidth at 200 A 

Within the 20 mm class it shares with the CT6841A and CT6844A, the CT6843A sits between them: a step up in current from the CT6841A's 20 A, and a step up in bandwidth from the CT6844A's 500 kHz. Zero-flux stability benefits every measurement equally, from the lab bench to the test cell.
