Detailed Product Overview
Leakage currents in electrical installations can cause nuisance RCD trips, insulation faults, or unexpected shutdowns that are often difficult to locate. The HIOKI CM4001-90 combines the CM4001 AC leakage clamp meter with the Z3210 Bluetooth adapter in a single set, adding wireless communication for data transfer. The instrument measures currents from 600 µA to 600 A and captures both very small leakage currents and higher load currents in electrical installations. Slim jaws with a 24 mm opening allow measurements between closely spaced conductors in distribution panels and control cabinets.Versatile for Leak and Load Currents
The instrument detects leakage current as well as differential and load currents using True RMS measurement. Clamping all active conductors of a circuit together allows measurement of the resulting residual current for checking the operation of Residual Current Devices (RCDs) and Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs). Clamping a single conductor instead provides load current measurement for evaluating circuit conditions and identifying abnormal current consumption in connected equipment.The instrument provides five measurement ranges from 60.00 mA to 600.0 A AC. Leakage
currents can be measured from 600 µA up to 600.0 A, covering both small leakage currents
and higher load currents with a single device. Its frequency characteristics extend from 40 Hz
to 1 kHz. A built-in low-pass filter suppresses high-frequency components and isolates the
50/60 Hz leakage current relevant to RCD operation, even in installations with inverters or
switching power supplies.
Functions for service and troubleshooting
The instrument includes a comparator function that signals when measured values exceed a preset threshold using a buzzer and red warning backlight. The comparator function can also be used for event logging of leakage current events when used with the Z3210 Bluetooth adapter. Additional features include frequency measurement, Auto Hold, Max/Min/Avg recording, inrush current measurement up to 150 ms, and peak value capture, supporting diagnostic work in electrical installations.With a CAT III 300 V safety rating, the instrument is intended for measurements in fixed
installations, distribution panels, and electrical switchboards in residential, commercial, and
industrial environments. Its compact design and measurement capabilities support service
and maintenance work in electrical installations.
Wireless Communication
Since the Z3210 wireless adapter is included in the CM4001-90, Bluetooth communication is available without additional accessories. Measurement data can be transferred to the GENNECT Cross app for iOS and Android to document leakage current measurements, add annotations, and generate reports directly on site. The wireless connection also allows the meter’s readings to be viewed in real time on a smartphone or tablet, which is useful when the instrument is positioned where the display cannot be easily seen.The Z3210 also supports HID operation, allowing measured values to be entered directly into
Excel templates or other applications. In this mode, the adapter is recognized by the
operating system as a Bluetooth keyboard, enabling straightforward data transfer to
Windows PCs, tablets, or smartphones.
