Detailed Product Overview
The HIOKI PW3337 is a versatile benchtop power meter offering long-term stability and high measurement accuracy for single- to three-phase power systems. With three independent AC/DC measurement channels, it measures voltages up to 1000 V and currents up to 65 A directly, or up to 5000 A when used with external current sensors.Precision Without Shunts
Conventional power meters rely on shunt resistors, which generate heat, drift during operation, and lose precision as they age – especially in rack-mounted or long-term use. The PW3337 takes a different approach: it uses a zero-flux current transducer (DCCT), drawing on HIOKI’s decades of expertise in precision current sensing. This design avoids the inherent limitations of shunts and delivers stable, low-drift accuracy for both AC and DC currents. The result is basic power accuracy of ±0.1% of reading plus ±0.1% of full scale for DC, and ±0.15% for AC, across a wide frequency range from DC and 0.1 Hz up to 100 kHz.This broad performance makes the PW3337 ideal for applications ranging from typeapproval testing of household appliances such as heat pumps, refrigerators, washing
machines, and induction cooktops, to production-line testing of industrial motor drives.
Harmonic analysis up to the 50th order is supported in compliance with IEC 61000-4-7, with
adjustable limits to simplify regulatory compliance checks.
Sensor Connectivity for High Currents
For higher currents, each channel offers BNC inputs for external sensors, allowing measurements up to 5000 A. AC-only sensors with BNC outputs can be directly connected, while HIOKI AC/DC current sensors with ME15W connectors can be used via dedicated sensor units (CT9995, CT9556, or CT9557). Third-party voltage-output sensors are also supported through flexible CT ratio settings.Multiple PW3337 units can be synchronized via BNC cables, allowing up to eight instruments
to operate together. This enables precise, time-aligned comparison of input and output
efficiency in power supplies, or parallel testing of multiple devices under identical conditions –
extending the instrument’s capability from a single benchtop meter to a scalable
measurement system.
Four Models for Different Interface Needs
The PW3337 series consists of four models, each offering three measurement channels. The standard PW3337 includes all measurement and analysis functions and comes equipped with LAN and RS-232C interfaces. The PW3337-01 adds a built-in GP-IB interface, while the PW3337-02 features an integrated D/A output. The PW3337-03 includes both GP-IB and D/A output, making it the most versatile model in the series when maximum flexibility is required.- PW3337
