Detailed Product Overview
The 3287 clamp meter measures AC and DC current with True RMS evaluation in two ranges of 10 A and 100 A. The additional 10 A range provides higher resolution when measuring small currents in control circuits, supply lines or individual loads. True RMS evaluation ensures accurate measurement even when the current waveform is distorted, as can occur with electronic equipment, switching power supplies or modern control systems.

Current is measured through the clamp without interrupting the circuit. This allows measurements on live conductors without shutting down equipment or installations. The clamp accommodates insulated conductors up to 35 mm in diameter. 

Additional measurement functions

In addition to current measurement, the instrument supports voltage measurements up to 600 V AC/DC as well as resistance measurement and continuity testing using test leads. A zero adjustment function is available for DC current measurement to compensate sensor offset before measurement. The instrument supports automatic and manual range selection. 

Voltage, resistance and continuity measurements are performed using the included L9208 test leads. The optional 9209 Test Lead Holder allows one test lead to be attached to the rear of the instrument, enabling one handed operation while both probe tips are placed on the measurement points.

Safety and application range

The safety category depends on the measurement method. Current measurement using the clamp is rated for CAT III 600 V. Voltage and resistance measurements using test leads are rated for CAT III 300 V or CAT II 600 V. 

This makes the instrument suitable for measurements in electrical installations within buildings, for example in distribution panels, machine circuits or control circuits. Like all HIOKI clamp meters, clamp multimeters and current probes, the 3287 is manufactured in HIOKI’s own production facilities in Japan.
