Detailed Product Overview

The Hioki IM3536 is a high-performance benchtop LCR meter that combines wide frequency coverage, fast measurement speed, and intuitive operation. With a range from DC and 4 Hz up to 8 MHz, it covers a broad spectrum of component testing needs from low-frequency inductive devices to capacitive components characterized at MHz frequencies. A large capacitive touch display simplifies operation even in complex test setups, while the Fast Mode delivers measurements in as little as 1 ms per point.

With a basic impedance accuracy of ±0.05%, phase accuracy of ±0.03°, and guaranteed accuracy range from 1 mΩ to 200 MΩ, the IM3536 delivers precise, repeatable results for a wide range of components including capacitors, inductors, resistors, coils, and transformers. Its particularly high repeatability makes it ideal for low-ESR measurement of electrolytic capacitors as well as for impedance testing of power supply coils, where stable frequency characteristics are essential.

Frequency coverage from 4 Hz to 8 MHz

Adjustable measurement conditions include frequencies from DC and 4 Hz up to 8 MHz, test signal voltages from 10 mV to 5 Vrms, and test currents from 10 μA to 100 mArms. This flexibility makes it possible to evaluate resonance points of coils or to characterize components whose properties depend on signal amplitude, enabling realistic testing under application-specific conditions.

DC bias testing is supported with an internal source up to 2.5 V, such as for capacitor measurements, while optional external units extend the range for higher voltage or current applications. This capability enables testing under realistic operating conditions and compliance with industry standards. In addition, the instrument can calculate material parameters such as conductivity and dielectric constant when the geometry of the sample is specified, extending its use beyond conventional LCR measurements.

Perfect for production integration
The IM3536 offers comparator and BIN functions, and industrial interfaces such as LAN, GPIB, RS-232C, and handler I/O that provide multiple options for integration into existing production setups. The handler I/O supplies digital signals for external control and automated equipment, including comparator outputs and BCD-coded measurement values for categorization and sorting. Residual charge protection safeguards the instrument when charged capacitors are inadvertently connected, preventing measurement errors and possible damage to the input circuitry. The instrument can also perform DC resistance measurements in addition to AC impedance, so that both parameters are available within a single test sequence.

At home in laboratories
For laboratory use, the IM3536 includes a USB interface for direct PC connection. The supplied software supports frequency, voltage, and current sweeps, and measurement data can be logged directly into Microsoft Excel or saved as CSV files for further analysis. The large touch display and a wide range of available test fixtures make it easy to adapt the instrument to different component types in R&D and quality assurance labs.

Additional functions ensure stable measurements even under demanding conditions. In LowZ high-accuracy mode, the output resistance is set to 10 Ω, allowing higher test currents. This is ideal for ESR measurement of electrolytic capacitors or inductance testing of lowinductance components. The waveform averaging function lets the user define the number of waveforms per frequency band, reducing noise and providing more consistent results. In addition, a contact check function with adjustable thresholds can be enabled to ensure that the DUT is correctly contacted. This function is especially important in automated setups but also helps avoid unnecessary measurement runs during manual testing.

Made in Japan
With its proven design and stable pricing, the IM3536 combines performance, usability, and long-term reliability. Engineered and manufactured in Japan, it continues to offer strong value for both demanding R&D tasks and production testing, ensuring consistent quality and dependable operation over many years.

SA2634-KIT
SA2634-KIT - Slurry Analysis System for LiB Conductivity Evaluation
Key Specifications Slurry conductivity and dispersion evaluation (DCR, R-ratio, Uniformity)Automated equivalent-circuit fitting For aqueous and NMP based slurries Impedance data from 4 Hz to 8 MHz Unique AdvantagesCombines frequency-sweep EIS with automated equivalent-circuit fitting for quantitative slurry evaluationProvides three proprietary metrics (DCR, R-ratio, and Uniformity) for consistent assessment of conductivity and dispersion Typical ApplicationsOptimization of slurry manufacturing conditions (e.g. mixing time, conductive agent content, dispersant ratio) in R&D and production Material research and evaluation using electrical dispersion analysis and comparative conductivity metricsQuality assurance and performance screening of lithium-ion battery slurries in production environments Product Description The SA2634-KIT Slurry Analysis System is a software-based solution that quantifies the electrical characteristics of lithium-ion battery (LiB) slurries through impedance analysis. The KIT includes the SA2634 analysis software, the IM3536 LCR Meter, the SA9002 Test Fixture, and one pack each of disposable slurry sample containers SA9001 (for NMP-based slurries) and SA9001-01 (for aqueous slurries). By combining these components, the system enables standardized and repeatable evaluation of slurry conductivity and dispersion across a wide frequency range from 4 Hz to 8 MHz. Measurement and Analysis PrincipleUsing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), the IM3536 acquires the impedance spectrum of the slurry. The SA2634 software models this data with an equivalent circuit to extract three proprietary parameters: DCR, representing the total resistance of the conductive path; R-ratio, indicating the relative contribution of conductive additives within that path; and Uniformity, reflecting the evenness of the conductive network distribution. Together, these metrics provide a quantitative understanding of how well conductive additives are dispersed and connected within the slurry. They help engineers identify the optimal ratio between active material and conductive agent, assess the homogeneity of dispersion, and directly link electrical behavior to electrode performance.Measurement Process and Practical ApplicationFor each measurement, approximately 1 ml of slurry is dispensed into a disposable sample holder. The SA9001 slurry sample container is used for N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP)-based slurries, while the SA9001-01 is intended for aqueous (water-based) slurries. The filled sample holder is placed into the SA9002 Test Fixture, a fixture developed specifically for this measurement system, where it establishes a stable electrical connection to the IM3536 LCR Meter. Once secured, the system performs an impedance sweep across a user-defined frequency range between 4 Hz and 8 MHz. Each measurement takes approximately one minute, minimizing changes in the slurry’s state during testing. By combining automated equivalent-circuit fitting with batch processing of up to 1,000 datasets, the SA2634 software significantly streamlines data handling and comparison between multiple samples. Over time, accumulated measurement data provide traceable reference values for long-term process control and quality assurance, enabling consistent evaluation across R&D and production environments. The SA2634 system establishes a standardized, quantitative framework for early-stage formulation studies, process optimization, and quality control, helping maintain uniform electrode conductivity and reproducibility from lab scale to mass production.
