Detailed Product Overview
Reliable evaluation of passive components such as capacitors, resistors, inductors, and wound components can in most cases be performed using the HIOKI IM3533. For applications where verification at multiple frequency points is required, an LCR meter with additional frequency sweep capability is needed. The HIOKI IM3533-01 is designed for these applications and combines the measurement performance of the IM3533 with a built-in frequency sweep function. Measurements from DC and 1 mHz to 200 kHz are supported with a guaranteed measurement range from 10 mΩ to 200 MΩ, a basic accuracy of ±0.05%, and a typical measurement speed of 2 ms. Test signal voltage and current can be adjusted from 5 mV to 5 V and from 10 μA to 50 mA. In the low impedance high accuracy mode, test currents up to 100 mA are available.
Frequency Sweep and Advanced Measurement Functions
The IM3533-01 provides a built-in frequency sweep function for sequential measurement at multiple predefined frequency points. Up to 800 measurement points can be configured within the frequency range from DC and 1 mHz to 200 kHz. Measurement results are displayed numerically and can be retrieved via the available interfaces for external evaluation, supporting automated multi-frequency test sequences. In addition to standard LCR measurements, the IM3533-01 provides a low impedance high accuracy mode in which the output resistance is reduced to 25 Ω. This improves measurement stability for low-impedance components such as low-inductance coils and aluminum electrolytic capacitors.
A dedicated transformer measurement mode supports the evaluation of wound components by directly measuring parameters such as turns ratio, mutual inductance, and inductance difference, eliminating the need for manual calculation from individual LCR results.
DC Resistance, Classification, and Bias Functions
The IM3533-01 provides DC resistance measurement of coils and windings within its guaranteed measurement range of 10 mΩ to 200 MΩ. Optional temperature compensation using the 9478 Sheath Type Temperature Probe enables resistance values to be referenced to a defined temperature in production and incoming inspection. Comparator and BIN functions support limit checking and component selection for automated pass or fail decisions in production test sequences. An internal DC bias source of ±5 V is available for voltage-dependent measurements of components such as polarized capacitors. If higher bias levels are required, optional external DC bias units can be used. The 9268-10 DC Bias Voltage Unit allows external DC voltage sources up to ±40 V to be coupled into the measurement path, and the 9269-10 DC Bias Current Unit enables the connection of external DC current sources up to 2 A.
Ease of Use and Connectivity
A 5.7 inch color TFT touch display allows direct access to measurement parameters and results. Measurement data can be saved to a USB storage device for documentation and further processing. USB and handler I/O are available as standard interfaces. Optional LAN, RS-232C, and GP-IB interfaces enable integration into automated test systems and established production environments. Developed and manufactured in Japan, the IM3533-01 is designed for long-term reproducible measurement results in engineering and production.- IM3533-01 LCR Meter
