The 8972 DC/RMS Unit is a 2-channel DC and RMS voltage measurement module for the memory recorders MR6000, MR6000-01, MR8740T, MR8740, MR8741, MR8827, MR8847A and MR8848. It enables both instantaneous waveform measurement and RMS evaluation via two electrically isolated input channels.
The module features a wide-bandwidth RMS measurement circuit that supports DC and AC signals from around 30 Hz up to 100 kHz without requiring external signal conditioning. With a measurement range from 5 mV to 20 V/div and 12 selectable ranges, it can capture everything from small signal details to higher voltages. Simultaneous sampling at up to 1 MS/s on both channels allows detailed waveform and RMS analysis.
The high isolation rating of up to 300 V AC/DC to ground and maximum allowable input voltage of 400 V DC between input terminals ensures safe operation even in demanding electrical environments. RMS amplitude accuracy supports precise evaluation of both DC and AC components.
Typical applications include comprehensive DC and AC voltage monitoring, RMS waveform analysis, verification of PWM and switching signals, and performance evaluation in power electronics and test bench environments.
