The HIOKI 3153 is a programmable tester for AC and DC withstand voltage testing and insulation resistance measurement. Withstand voltage tests can be performed at test voltages from 200 V to 5.00 kV. The maximum test current is 100 mA AC and 10 mA DC. For insulation resistance measurements, the test voltage can be set from 50 to 1200 V DC. The measurement range extends from 0.10 to 9999 MΩ depending on the selected test voltage.
Upper and lower limits can be defined for evaluation of the test result. The 3153 outputs the result as PASS or FAIL. The test time can be set from 0.3 to 999 s. For withstand voltage testing, voltage rise time and voltage fall time can each be set from 0.1 to 99.9 s. Insulation resistance measurements provide a delay time setting from 0.1 to 99.9 s. Program mode supports test sequences with up to 32 program files and up to 50 test steps per file. AC withstand voltage tests, DC withstand voltage tests and insulation resistance measurements with different test conditions can be combined within one sequence. Stored programs can be selected at the instrument or via External I/O. START and STOP signals can also be controlled via External I/O. RS232C and GPIB interfaces are provided for PC communication.
For multipoint testing, the 3153 can be combined with the 3930 High Voltage Scanner. Up to four scanners can be connected and controlled by the 3153, providing up to 32 test channels. In program mode, the scanner channels used for each test step can be specified individually.
The PWM power supply regulates the configured test voltage independently of fluctuations in the instrument supply voltage. After a test is completed, the automatic discharge function dissipates residual charge from the device under test through an internal discharge circuit. The external interlock function can inhibit high voltage output in combination with an external safety device. Output voltage is indicated digitally and by an analog voltmeter.
