Product information U8979 - Charge Unit

The U8979 Charge Unit is a 2-channel acceleration measurement module for the memory recorders MR6000, MR6000-01, MR8848, MR8827, and MR8740T. It enables acceleration measurement with charge-output acceleration sensors and acceleration sensors with a built-in preamplifier. In addition, the module can be used for the measurement and recording of torque and vibration signals. The module provides one BNC input and one miniature connector for charge input per channel. It also supports TEDS-compatible sensors for automatic sensitivity setting. 

Typical applications include vibration measurement on machines and assemblies as well as frequency analysis of torque and vibration signals using the recorder’s FFT function. One example is the measurement of vibrations transmitted through the chassis to the motor housing using an acceleration sensor mounted on the chassis.

  • TEDS: IEEE 1451.1.4 Class 1 compatible (reading sensor information, automatic sensitivity setting) 
  • Measurement range: acceleration input 1 to 200 k (m/s²) f.s., 12 ranges × 6 types; charge input sensitivity 0.1 to 10 pC/(m/s²); preamplifier sensor input sensitivity 0.1 to 10 mV/(m/s²); voltage input 10 mV to 40 V f.s., 12 ranges 
  • Sampling rate / resolution: 200 kS/s, 16 bit (1/25000 of measurement range) 
  • Accuracy: amplitude accuracy ±2% f.s. for acceleration input; DC amplitude accuracy ±0.5% f.s. for voltage input
  • Frequency characteristics / filter: charge input 1 (1.5) to 50 kHz (−3 dB), low-pass filter 500 / 5 kHz; voltage input DC to 50 kHz (−3 dB) with DC coupling, 1 Hz to 50 kHz (−3 dB) with AC coupling, low-pass filter 5 / 500 / 5 kHz 
  • Other product-specific parameters: preamplifier supply 3.5 mA ±20%, 22 V ±5%; anti-aliasing filter with automatic cutoff frequency setting or OFF for FFT operation
