Detailed Product Overview

The L2142 test leads are designed for precise DC four-terminal resistance measurements with the HIOKI RM3548-50 portable resistance meter. In contrast to the L2141, they feature sharp, spring-loaded pogo-pin tips on both leads, allowing stable contact by penetrating paint, oxide, or other surface coatings to reach the conductive base material. This makes the L2142 ideal for resistance verification on coated or oxidized metal parts, such as grounding checks on painted frames, bus bars, or motor housings. 

Each lead pair is configured for four-terminal measurements, with separate SOURCE and SENSE lines to minimize the influence of lead resistance and maintain consistent lowresistance readings. The gold-plated pogo-pin tips (Ø 3.55 mm) ensure excellent conductivity and long-term durability, even during frequent measurement cycles. Each tip applies a contact pressure of approximately 1.2 kg at a 4 mm stroke to maintain reliable electrical contact on coated surfaces. 

The combined cable section allows convenient handling and reduces cable clutter during operation, while the split tip section provides independent positioning of the probes across wider measurement points. With a total length of 3.0 m and a branch after 1.0 m, the L2142 offers sufficient reach for both benchtop and field applications, even when measuring large structures or widely spaced terminals. 

The L2142 is suitable for DC resistance measurements on painted or oxidized metal surfaces where coating removal is not possible. For measurements on clean or machined metal surfaces where coating penetration is not desired, the L2141 rounded-tip test leads are recommended. Although originally developed for the HIOKI RM3548-50, the L2142 is also compatible with the earlier RM3548 and other DC four-terminal resistance meters featuring compatible connectors.
